Greetings from the Leflore County School District
Special Services Department!
Serving our students is number one priority!
Leflore County School District is committed to providing a free and appropriate public education to students with exceptional needs, in accordance with the Individuals with Disability Education Act (IDEA) and federal/state laws. These laws require the district to identify, locate and assess students who may have disabilities, and to provide appropriate services to eligible students.
Special education services are based on the individual needs of the student and the recommendation of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) Team. Leflore County School District provides a continuum of programs and support services for students with exceptional needs, ages three through twenty one. These services are provided according to the primary educational needs of the child, not the category of disability.
Related services are designed to enable the child to participate in or access his or her program of special education. Special educators, school psychologists, speech pathologists, social worker services, occupational and physical therapy services, family training, school nurse, administrators and parents all play an important role in making the most appropriate educational decisions for each student.
Our goal is to support success for each and every student and to partner with parents in order to provide a quality educational program for all. We hope you find our website useful and informative and we are always willing to answer questions and receive suggestions.
